Trust

The definition of trust is: The belief in something that is true and trustworthy.

Synonyms are: assurance, certainty, certitude, confidence, conviction, credence, credit, dependence, entrustment, expectation, faith, gospel truth, hope, positiveness, reliance, stock, store and sureness!

When my grandson comes to visit, he and his PaPaw love to play a special game and I love to photograph it.

Today I was editing the pictures from one such visit and I realized how much Ami must trust his PaPaw, I mean really really TRUST his PaPaw. Even us on the outside watching are not sure we trust PaPaw as much as Ami does.

Jim used to play this game with each of our kids in different ways, but the main result was always the same, tons of giggles, lots of laughing and a ton of TRUST. To trust that PaPaw is not going to let Ami fall also takes some faith.

You can see it in Ami’s eyes, and the huge smile on his face and the laughter that comes out of his belly. Ami trusts, loves and has faith in his PaPaw!

Ami believes that no matter what PaPaw is not going to hurt him. He’s not going to fall, he’s not going to get hurt, because PaPaw has Ami’s trust.

Did Jim have to earn Ami’s trust or because of the love Jim has for Ami that trust and faith was just instinctively there? I’m voting on the later! Ami just knows that he knows that he knows, that Ami is safe! Ami just relaxes and enjoys the “ride”. He smiles, laughs and enjoys every moment even asking for more (up,up,up,go,go,go)

I ask my brides to have that same kind of trust in me. I know I’m going to capture the emotion and intimate details of their wedding day. I want my brides not to worry about their photography. It’s covered.

I love what I do, and it shows!

A bag, a blog and a friend..

Today I was checking out my friends blogs, I do that, you know, I check them out. I support them and I post comments!

Amanda is my friend and when I read her blog today, I almost posted a blog about it but thought to wait just a bit and I’m glad I did.

Amanda is Living Proof Photography and her blog started with this really cute picture, actually I thought it was a strange picture till I read her blog, Amanda was submitting this picture to win a Shootsac through an amazing company called MCP Actions

I knew as soon as I saw the picture Amanda was a winner.

Later that day MCP Actions posted the top 10 or so that she chose to send over to Jessica at Shootsac. Amanda was in the top 10!!!

So tonight Jessica Claire picked a winner and it was my buddy Amanda!

Amanda and I hung out for a few days in New York last year for the David Jay Freedom Seminar. She actually drove all over NY and even into Brooklyn! We had a good time and I’m so happy for her.

So here’s to you Amanda!

CONGRATULATIONS, GIRL!!!! Woot Woot !!

Earlier today I received an email telling me about a new beta release of Safari 4. I’m not real big on beta so I sort of looked at it and closed it out.

Tonight I was sitting here avoiding doing my taxes and thought….hmmm….Safari beta 4. So, I downloaded it.

Now that was a trick for me, because I love to hit the remind me later button on my updates and I had to install 12 updates in order to install Safari.

What happened next were these words: WOOOWWW!!!!

My Safari looked like a cinema, with 12 tiny windows and in each of those windows was my most searched websites. Now I had to edit a few, and I really wanted to argue a few also with my Mac, but I had a feeling I would lose so, I just hit edit and changed them to what I felt they should be!

How fun! SO now, I click on a window and my website comes to me, full page and updated! Oh I am going to so love this for my forums and facebook!

I checked out this tutorial: HERE
and I learned a few other things.

It’s built for SPEED!
It’s got an amazing Search engine that flips pages like IPhoto
It has tabs!!
And more developer tools for Web Developing
Plus more then 150 other features
and if your a Windows user it has some nice features for you also…

So check it out, Safari 4 has become my new best friend! Safari 4 Beta and I are going to get some exploring going on!
WOOOOWWWWW!

Memories

This week I’ve been so busy I’ve neglected you my blogger friends, but really, I’ve been on a task, it’s a secret of sorts so I can’t really spill the beans just yet….but…

I’ve been scanning images, over 450 to be exact, some old and some new. I’ve gone through every photography I own, that’s a lot, you know those big plastic bins you put your christmas decorations in? Yep, how about 2.5 of those full of pictures!

It’s been fun going through memory lane, my boys even got into it one of the nights and got a lot of laughs out of my earlier years.

This move has caused me to take a harder look at life and family and myself. I’ve been enjoying that part of the journey. In everything there is change and there is thought and there are tears.

I plan on keeping moving forward, that is where true happiness is. Moving Forward!

I love what I do and I’ll keep doing it. Photography is a way of life for me, it’s become a part of me, to steal a famous quote “A picture of someone says they mattered, someone cared enough about them to take a picture”

Certain religious sects believe a picture steals the soul, I believe it preserves it, that moment in time, that “click” of the shutter, that moment in history is preserved for as long as ever can last. Shared for years and sometimes hidden away in a plastic container.

What treasures do you have hidden away, maybe it’s time to look at them.

Here is one of mine!

Olivia – it’s all about smiles

Filed under Uncategorized • Written by Lisa B @ 5:56 am

Last week Raquel and I had the sheer joy to photography Olivia. Olivia is full of life and joy and smiles.

Olivia brought her parents with her and as her mother stated on the phone “Olivia never stops”!

Olivia is the reason I don’t want to have a studio, I wanted to capture Olivia as Olivia, not as a stiff, posed statue (that would never have happened and as unhappy as Olivia would have been in a studio setting, I would have been even more unhappy!

There is nothing like a relaxed setting, the light of the outdoors, the smells and the way a person reacts to the surroundings. It’s real and it’s life and it’s the way we roll! :-)

It’s the way Olivia rolls also. She had a blast and she knew exactly what she wanted to do, for how long and to what extent.

When we said good-bye I was honored with a hug from Olivia, and I felt that to be a very special perk of being allowed into Olivia’s world.

Thank you, Olivia! We enjoyed our time with you and your family!

Seriously, it was 70 here yesterday and we had a blast. I had a toddler shoot (pics will be up later this week) and Ami got to go out and play catch with Pa-pa and Luke. But I got to take Ami out on his first day of SNOW! He’s never been in the snow, so we found a nice yard of snow and tore it up!

Ami got to spend a month with us as my daughter and I worked on getting me organized in my new home.

They leave tomorrow, so before the tears start to flow, I thought I’d spend the night putting up this blog post to Ami J.

He’s amazing and special and wonderful and I can’t wait to watch him grow up!

Here’s to you Ami!

Showin’ the Love

Filed under Uncategorized • Written by Lisa B @ 1:48 pm

Since I’ve been in Missouri, I’ve been shown a lot of love and kindness, from the little boy at JCPenney’s that wanted to show me his new school clothes, to neighbors, to the City Commerce tolerating yet another question from me!

I like my town, it’s a big change for me! Not all change is bad, nor will it kill me. There is so much possibility here, much less the sun that shines 99% of the time.

So, this Saturday, I’d like to give back a bit. Since we are in the month of Love. How about a free portrait session at City Park? If your interested, If you want to give your love a really awesome picture of yourself. Even if you just want a nice series of pictures for yourself. It does not matter. Hit me up with an email or phone call. No strings attached, give me a few minutes of your time and I’ll give you some amazing images to choose from. So, Men, Woman, Children, even your pets, it’s your call, this Saturday. I have 6 openings. Get your spot!

We don’t do this often, but because everyone has been so nice to myself and my family. Here goes. Payin’ it forward!

Let’s do this thing! :-)

The Love Month!

Filed under Uncategorized • Written by Lisa B @ 3:26 pm

February, the month of Love.

Everywhere we look we will see hearts and diamonds! I really do enjoy the jewelry commercials. I’m not a big jewelry person, but I really do enjoy the expressions of love on the commercials.

You know you’re going to have to buy a card, flowers, candy or better yet Jewelry. It is commercial isn’t it. A “holiday” started when a Christian Priest named Valentine defended love and secretly married couple despite Emperor Claudius II orders not to! You can read more about the start of Valentines Day HERE

But what a way to express to someone how you feel about them, and there is nothing wrong with expressing that love with gifts and cards!

I deal in love, being a wedding photographer I am honored by countless couples to share in their day, to be privileged to be in the back rooms and to share in some of the most romantic expressions of love and commitment! I’m trusted to capture that emotion and that day as a lasting memory! It’s an honor and I absolutely LOVE what I do!

Enjoy your Love this Month!
