Some Baseball Shots…

Every since my son was in T-ball, I always took my camera to the games. It started off by me shooting just him, then the team, to last year were I spent my entire summer on the fields photographing all 17 teams. I enjoyed doing it and I used it as a time to really practice some skill shots.

Luke lives for baseball, it’s his dream to become a professional baseball player, and he’s not far off his mark!

This year, since we moved, I was able to concentrate just on Luke and Saturday was an amazing time to start. In a 2 inning pitch Luke pitched: 4 strike outs, 1 ground out, 1 infield pop up, 1 walk and zero runs scored.

While standing on the opposition side of the field I had a chance to hear the coaches talk about the pitches Luke threw. One coaches comment was “WOW, that was an amazing pitch”, another said “That was a perfect pitch, you’re not going to hit that” The head coach said to me: “That’s your son? I responded “yes” (okay and that reads more like YES!!!!!) and he commented “he’s got game”. Of course he has game, he lives to play ball, it’s his passion and passion is important in anything you want to do well!

After the game the coaches approached Luke and congratulating him on a good game!

SO I thought I would take a moment and post some images from the game.

Unexpected Expecting!!!

NO, I’m not pregnant!

So, if you’re a follower you’ll know I spent Easter (Resurrection) Sunday listening to Sinbad. For me, right now, right where I am THIS was for me!

Everyone knows I’ve relocated, kicking and screaming I’ve been dragged out of my comfy enviorment and made uncomfortable and a bit out of control!
Meaning…

I don’t know how to get out of a simple high school parking lot easy and FAST!

I can’t find the flippin’ Alexia products at the Grocery Store!

I didn’t know that at the end of the bridge is 35mph, not 55, yep I got a ticket! I was going 53!

I do now know cows do not go Mooo…REALLY!

the list goes on, but my comfort zone is nil. I feel comfortable in my home and at my church! I’ve even made friends (I said I was not going to do that) Lynn, Steve and Starr, Amanda, Maribel, Preston, Mel and Lynne Tony, Earl and the whole usher team! Thank you for being kind!

I’ve looked at this whole move as an adventure,(after I stopped crying and got a hold of myself) and I’m anxious to see what is in store for me here. I wonder what doors will open and what ones will shut.

I’m thrilled I have a new church family and another extension to my Ohio church. I’m so thankful for being involved.

What an honor and a privilege, thank you for asking me, to capture this event!

Sinbad was really good, he mixed humor with his message, of course he did, he’s Sinbad! It was real ministry and it was good! He wasn’t “performing” because he did 2 services and they were not the same! He was just real and he did what he knows how to do!

So, here are a few pics of the day! Sinbad did what he does best and so did I, enjoy!

What Did You Do Sunday?

Easter Sunday is one of those days that typically everyone goes to church.

I’ve been going to church for 24 years, and this was the first year I did not know what to think of Easter Sunday Service.

I’ve attended at least 24 typical Palm Sundays, followed by a trip to the cross, a Pastor sharing with us his Easter Sunday Message.

This year I’ve relocated with my family and we found a new church THAT we love, we’re involved and the people are amazing. The Pastors are amazing also. But what was I supposed to think about Sunday?

I really wanted to blog about it, but I did not know how. How do you tell people your Easter Sunday was going to be shared with Sinbad? SINBAD? He’s sharing with us our Easter Sunday!

Today I spent the 1st service of Church On The Rock with about 300 children, in the most laid out, well thought out program for them. I knew above me, the Auditorium was packed, packed meaning close to 3-4K people This was at 9am!

I was asked to photograph the day, something that I enjoyed to do! Then came 2nd service and I prepared for the coverage of Sinbad and prepared for the message of the day.

I can tell you, it was nothing less then amazing, Sure it was not the typical message, but I sat amazed with just how much message did come forth.

Sinbad did not try to be anything but Sinbad and he’s good at it. He brought a message mixed with humor. It is one of the best Easter Sundays I have spent.

Sinbad brought his wife and children, his daughter shared in special music and I can tell you, she has some pipes. I watched his family enjoy listening to their husband/dad share also. The second service was as big as the first.

I was not lacking the Sunday! I miss my daughter and her family and would have loved for them to be with us, and one day, we will be together again, but for now, this is God’s plan and I am honored and a privilege to shoot this day and to be involved!

Just one shot…I promise, more to come!

Okay, Okay, I’m sorry!

I’ve been SO busy, but I hate to be one of those bloggers that apologize but, seriously, I’ve been busy.

So, what have I been doing? Dare you ask?

Well, you know we relocated and today, yes today I unpacked the last box! Now that may not be a big deal to you, but, I’m thrilled. I never wanted to be one of “those people” that after 2 years still had boxes in the basement! So, now that I am off that list, I can get back to life as I know it. Yeah, right!

I’m not a person to wish I would have!

Now, my April, I’ll have you know April is totally booked. I’ve got a session each Saturday and one on Sunday. I’m shooting a single mom’s luncheon this Sunday and I’ll be in Kansas City from Thur. – Sun.

My life rocks! I say it all the time, I’m blessed to be doing what I do!

So a few days ago, was not as shiny as all my days and my daughter sent me a few pics of Ami. Ami is way amazing and awesome. He loves Yo Gabba Gabba (have you seen that show, it’s scary, lol) he now calls it “Waba, Waba). Ami is full of life and really has his little life all tangled up in my heart strings!

If these pictures do not make you smile, there’s not much hope! They sure made my day.

So, here’s to Ami and to you, my fabulous blog readers!

Trust

The definition of trust is: The belief in something that is true and trustworthy.

Synonyms are: assurance, certainty, certitude, confidence, conviction, credence, credit, dependence, entrustment, expectation, faith, gospel truth, hope, positiveness, reliance, stock, store and sureness!

When my grandson comes to visit, he and his PaPaw love to play a special game and I love to photograph it.

Today I was editing the pictures from one such visit and I realized how much Ami must trust his PaPaw, I mean really really TRUST his PaPaw. Even us on the outside watching are not sure we trust PaPaw as much as Ami does.

Jim used to play this game with each of our kids in different ways, but the main result was always the same, tons of giggles, lots of laughing and a ton of TRUST. To trust that PaPaw is not going to let Ami fall also takes some faith.

You can see it in Ami’s eyes, and the huge smile on his face and the laughter that comes out of his belly. Ami trusts, loves and has faith in his PaPaw!

Ami believes that no matter what PaPaw is not going to hurt him. He’s not going to fall, he’s not going to get hurt, because PaPaw has Ami’s trust.

Did Jim have to earn Ami’s trust or because of the love Jim has for Ami that trust and faith was just instinctively there? I’m voting on the later! Ami just knows that he knows that he knows, that Ami is safe! Ami just relaxes and enjoys the “ride”. He smiles, laughs and enjoys every moment even asking for more (up,up,up,go,go,go)

I ask my brides to have that same kind of trust in me. I know I’m going to capture the emotion and intimate details of their wedding day. I want my brides not to worry about their photography. It’s covered.

I love what I do, and it shows!

Memories

This week I’ve been so busy I’ve neglected you my blogger friends, but really, I’ve been on a task, it’s a secret of sorts so I can’t really spill the beans just yet….but…

I’ve been scanning images, over 450 to be exact, some old and some new. I’ve gone through every photography I own, that’s a lot, you know those big plastic bins you put your christmas decorations in? Yep, how about 2.5 of those full of pictures!

It’s been fun going through memory lane, my boys even got into it one of the nights and got a lot of laughs out of my earlier years.

This move has caused me to take a harder look at life and family and myself. I’ve been enjoying that part of the journey. In everything there is change and there is thought and there are tears.

I plan on keeping moving forward, that is where true happiness is. Moving Forward!

I love what I do and I’ll keep doing it. Photography is a way of life for me, it’s become a part of me, to steal a famous quote “A picture of someone says they mattered, someone cared enough about them to take a picture”

Certain religious sects believe a picture steals the soul, I believe it preserves it, that moment in time, that “click” of the shutter, that moment in history is preserved for as long as ever can last. Shared for years and sometimes hidden away in a plastic container.

What treasures do you have hidden away, maybe it’s time to look at them.

Here is one of mine!

70

Seriously, it was 70 here yesterday and we had a blast. I had a toddler shoot (pics will be up later this week) and Ami got to go out and play catch with Pa-pa and Luke. But I got to take Ami out on his first day of SNOW! He’s never been in the snow, so we found a nice yard of snow and tore it up!

Ami got to spend a month with us as my daughter and I worked on getting me organized in my new home.

They leave tomorrow, so before the tears start to flow, I thought I’d spend the night putting up this blog post to Ami J.

He’s amazing and special and wonderful and I can’t wait to watch him grow up!

Here’s to you Ami!
